Imagine, a game that allows you to drive every vehicle in it, every plane, boat, jeep, tank, and much more. Where you are a soldier in the heat of battle, you must help take over a World War II battlefield. Where you have the opportunity to play as a Russian, American, British, Japanese, or German soldier. In which you can play online with up to 64 players or online with bots.....

Battlefield 1942 is that game....

Battlefield 1942 is a great game, you can play online, at LAN Parties, or by yourself against the computer. You may fly, drive or control any vehicle in the game, you can be a gunner, while you buddy flies the plane. You could drive a tank, and your teammate can sit on top and use the gun on top. Prowl under the water in a submarine, then sink your enemy's ship, take a destroyer and drop depth charges to annihilate your opponent in the submarine. You can run people over with your jeep, and ram into a tank to damage it, and if that isnt enough, be an engineer and fill your jeep with bombs to drive at a tank, get out of the jeep, letting your jeep bomb coast to the tank, then detonate your bombs, blasting the tank into oblivion. But be careful, your opponent may see you and blast your tank into next week, leaving you to wait another 10 seconds to respawn because you didnt get out of the tank before it got hit with a flying bathtub, err...shell. Or because you didnt wait for your jeep to get far enough away before detonating your bombs, blasting your helpless body 15 feet back.

You can be a variety of different soldier types, be an engineer, with an accurate rifle that takes 1 shot to the head to take out an opponent, 4 dynamite packs that are detonated with your detonator, 4 anti vehicle mines. Or an assault soldier, with a powerful automatic rifle and a handful of grenades. Or a medic, with a medic pack for healing yourself and others, a small machine gun, and a handful of grenades. Or an anti tank soldier, with a rocket launcher and some grenades. Or how about a scout, aka, sniper, with 3 grenades, a rifle similar to an engineer's but with a scope, and a pair of binoculars, that, when you point them at a target and click, you call for artillery and your buddy in the artillery tank can indirectly fire for some time seeing the area that you saw through your binoculars. All soldiers come with a sidearm pistol and a knife...for extra sport when you are playing close quarters. (1 poke 1 kill usually, or 2 if u dont poke to the head....)

EA seems to be constantly updating this game also. There are many official aftermarket maps, such as, Aberdeen, Battle of Britain (Axis must destroy Allied radar towers and factory before tickets run out), Coral Sea (2 aircraft carriers, 1 axis, 1 allied, whichever team sinks the other's carrier first wins)

If you ever get bored with the original Battlefield, just download one of the many mods, Desert Combat, with modern weapons, such as AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, H-60 Black Hawk helicopter, Hind Attack helicopter, guided SAM missile launcher, guided Tomahawk Missile launcher, F16, F15, F14, Mirage fighter, Mig 29, SU 25 (3 Versions), A10 (3 versions), M1A1 Abrams tank, Humvee, various amphibious vehicles, Stinger Missile launcher, SMAW (bazooka), many modern guns, mortar, and even more maps. www.desertcombat.com

My favorite server is Men of God. This is a Christian clan, they enforce their rules, no swearing, vulgar names, and others. Be sure to check them out.
