Comments: Located in Petaluma, CA, near Highway 101, 40 miles north of San Francisco, Hunan Village is an excellent establishment serving very good Chinese food, there are constantly waiters and waitresses meandering about the dining area.

Prices: Reasonable
Comments: HUGE bowls of soup, a small is enough for one person, a Large will serve 2, XLarge 3. Very good food for when you've got a cold. They also have solid food, example: rice, eggroll, meat, salad. Good selection of appetizers, great spring rolls. My current favorite place to eat.

Comments: I had a crispy hamachi (Halibut) roll, filled with tempura flakes and with raw halibut. Probably the best sushi roll I've had. Cant remember what it was called, but I want one right now. This place allegedly went downhill to frozen ingredients though.

Comments: This one is good, but typically very busy and usually loud. Try calling ahead to get reservations. The staff is good, Tuesday evenings offer half price appetizers for happy hour, most excellent.

Comments: Good food, cold lunches, salads, fast enough service, nice atmosphere.

Pete's Coffee and Tea ****

Located in Petaluma, Near Boulevard Cinemas and in other random places around the state.
Description: Clean and quiet, excellent iced coffee, I think they roast their own. Pleasant atmosphere, wide selection of beans to buy in bulk, they also sell brewing products and cups, along with other stuff.
Coffee: Excellent, just make sure they don't run out of cooled coffee when you're getting iced coffee, that's only happened to me once...they poured hot coffee over ice...tasted like water.
Service: Excellent
Comments: Their coffee varies, sometimes they use good beans, sometimes they use excellent beans, overall, they're good.

Unfortunately, Happy Garden is now China Chef, apparently under new ownership and they are now about at the quality level of Asian fast food.

Comments: If you are looking for a good Chinese restaurant, check out this gem in Cotati, CA. Cotati is located off of Highway 101 between Petaluma and Rohnert Park, CA, approximately 45 miles north of San Francisco. Just avoid their gift certificates, if your total is $5 over what's on the gift certificate and you only have a $20 bill, they will take the whole $20 cash and then just subtract from the gift certificate, plus the gift certificates are on a 1/2 sheet of thick paper, not at all comfortable in a wallet.


Deaf Dog Coffee: ****
Unfortunately, the Dog is gone, owner went bankrupt as a result of the Petaluma city government trying to touristize water street (main parking area for the downtown Petaluma location) and Starbucks for opening a fourth or fifth store, and the closed minded people that only go to Starbucks because they offer foo foo drinks with longer names.

Atmosphere: Relaxed, personal, upbeat playlist, good stuff.
Comments: Deaf Dog stores are on the "Surf and Sip" network for WiFi. They do not offer a punchcard, but they do sell tokens, good for a basic coffee, you can buy 11 for the price of one, nice to keep in your vehicle just in case. They have this one drink, called the "Hair of the Dog," basically a shot of espresso with coffee over it, it's great cold or hot.
