Command & Conquer Generals Review for Multiplayer

With challenging computer players, network and internet gaming, and the Command and Conquer name, EA's Command & Conquer Generals looks to be a solid game. For now I will review the Multiplayer part of this game.

LAN- This game is great for LAN, can keep four players wide awake for hours past midnight. Fun to team up against computer players or eachother, or even free for all, LAN Play with C&C Generals is very fun. Sometimes we have the game get messed up when we start a server, some of us wouldnt load a map or some odd reason and hold up everybody, yes, that was a pain. We would have to start over again. baaah. but it was fun and relatively simple, I would give LAN Play a 8/10

Internet- With it's touchy login screen, making you put in age, email, user name and password every time if you dont check the "Remember Me" box, online play almost seems not worth it right there. And you better be ready for clueless players online that will come into the game staging area and hold up starting it, first time I tried, I spent over 10 minutes waiting, pressing accept over and over again, unable to get everyone to press accept at the same time in a 6 man server, never did get to play that time. For 2 players though, it's not so bad, sure it's a pain to find the server, with no option to put in the IP of the server or to search for the server name, it can be hard to find your friend's server. Finally got in and we were able to play, with some lag, him running a 2.6c and me running a 2.4c, C&C Generals is very demanding on your network/internet. He had cable internet, and I had DSL. We did finally get to play and had a pretty good time, even with some lag. For Internet Play: I would give this a 3/10.

Overall Multiplayer: I would give this game a 5.5/10 if you dont have high speed internet, forget online play. If you are buying it only for LAN, go ahead, it's very fun for LAN play. Singleplayer is also great for you poor guys with dial up or no friends. The main bad part of this game is the lack of a good online play lobby interface for finding servers you want. The other bad thing is that you have to sign up with an account for it, it would be better if they used CD Keys to make sure people weren't pirating the game.It is nice that you can have buddy lists and that you can chat with other players in the lobby.
