Relient K's 2004 album, simply titled "mmhmm" is simply...great. Just like any other Relient K CD this one has a good message, catchy tunes, and humor is used well.

Song # 1 is titled "The One I'm Waiting For" it's about a girl that's good looking and knows it and has great practice at breaking hearts. I gather that the message is to just forget about that type of person and live for the ones that you actually love, on the inside. [Top]

Song #2 is titled "Be My Escape" I gather that it's about the artist being in a rut, stuck in sin and asking God to be his "escape". The artist admits that he's been fighting God for so long and wishes that he let God help him for so long and that he could have and says "And all I was trying to do was save my own skin" and then admits "so were you" in the end. I interpret the "so were you" to be that God was trying to save us too. [Top]

Song #3 is titled "High of '75" it's about the artists different days, some days he's happy, sunny and warm, but other days he's depressed and it's rainy and cold. The way to be happy is to allow God to take your "heavy heart, and make it light." The message of the song is to be happy to be alive, and then you will enjoy life. [Top]

Track #4 is called "I So Hate Consequences" it's about how we feel so guilty and wish that we could just not face any consequences for our actions. All that we think to do is run away from God, but we finally realize that God loves us and will forgive us. We just have to go to God and accept the forgiveness and love. [Top]

Track #5 is titled "The Only Thing Worse Than Beating a Dead Horse is Betting on One" the title in itself is a good message. I guess the message is that we should not let small problems get big and "grow on us, like gravity, but gravity still makes us fall" so if you make or let small problems get big, you will be dragged down by them when you worry about them too much, kindof a chain reaction or something like that. [Top]

Track #6 is titled "My Girl's Ex-Boyfriend" it's about, you guessed it, the artist's girl's ex boyfriend. It's saying how he should feel sorry for his girl's ex and it's also thanking him for making the mistake that he made. So it's also kind of an indirect love song to his girlfriend. [Top]

--Track #7 is called "A Little More Than Useless" it's about how we think that we are useless but God has proved more than once that he can use anybody and that he actually prefers to use the lowly people. [Top]

Track #8, "Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet," is probably going to be one of the most listened to songs on mmhmm it's about a fight between the artist and a good friend. He points out that the friend he is having a conflict with doesn't seem to remember any of their good memories together but keeps all the bad ones. The message is to forgive people. Don't hold a grudge, it doesn't only hurt you, but it hurts your friend, the fault will most often rest not only with your friend, but also with you. [Top]

Track #9 is titled "Let it All Out." I think the message is to accept your trials and stay faithful through them. "and if the burden seems too much to bear, remember, that the end will justify the pain it took to get us there" [Top]

Track #10 is titled "Who I am Hates Who I've Been." It's about how we wish we could take back the things we've done wrong, but we need to learn from our mistakes and not repeat them.[Top]

Track #11 is titled "Maintain Consciousness" and I love it, it's about how we have a hard time concentrating on stuff. Mmhmm, it would make a great theme song for this website eh? [Top]

Track #12 "This Week The Trend" I think it's about how we have habits of messing up and need to wake up before we end up watching our lives go wrong. [Top]

Track #13 is called "Life After Death And Taxes." It's a reminder that life is not over when we die. There is going to be either heaven or hell. But we don't have to go to hell if we accept God's grace. No matter how much we mess up, we can get forgiveness and grace. [Top]

Track #14 is called "When I Go Down" and is a great worship song about God's grace. We sin and then the consequences of our sin hurt. But God still loves us and forgives us, knowing the fact that God loves us no matter what gives us strength to go on with life. When we have problems, we need to look to God and he will comfort us. [Top]

All in all mmhmm is a great album and is well worth whatever you pay for it. You can buy it from musichristian.com for $8.77 [Top]

oh but there is a hidden track, track 0 titled mmhmm is only about 20 seconds long and is simply humming of...you guessed it..."mmhmm" The way to get to it is by playing the cd in your CD player and then rewinding it....
