Relient K- Two Lefts Don't Make a Right, but Three Do
(what's a
Morkswack?) Relient K has proven to be a great Christian Band. I would call them Pop-Punk, but don't let that scare you away, they are quite popular, with their catchy tunes, sense of humor, and meaningful and relateable lyrics (well...most of the time) they will have you singing, or humming along very soon. I am not sure what the album title has to do with the album's content, but it's pretty catchy, though long. I'll give the title a 10 for humor and a 8 for length. So the title can have a 9 I guess. The first song, titled "Chap Stick, Chapped Lips, and Things Like Chemistry" is a good way to start off the album, the humor and relateabilty is in this song, it talks of cell phones and the benefits and frustrations of them, including losing them and dealing with confusing plans concerning music. The beat is good, the song is unique in it's own way, but still catchy. Song number two is called "Mood Rings" and it's talking about how we should get any emotional girls mood rings, relateable if you're a guy, recounts how unpredictable girls are and that they confuse us so much. (sorry girls) A catchy tune and relateable lyrics make this song a keeper. Song number three is called "Falling Out" this is a great song, it relates how the lead singer has troubles and he is hurting "and every angle is covered with just another...band aid...." He recounts how he feels he is falling out of favor with God, but he knows that he will not fall out of favor with God. The lead singer is basically saying how he will trust God. The fourth song is titled "Forward Motion." This particular song relates how our lead singer is having more troubles, he relates how it is good to "experience the bittersweet, to taste defeat then brush my teeth" He also relates that it is difficult to have forward motion, whenever you seem to gain some ground, you realize that you are going the wrong way and have to change direction. Though life is tough, God knows what you are going through and he will be with you. Track five is titled: "In Love With the 80's (Pink Tux to the Prom.)" It is also a great song, catchy and err, humourous i guess. I guess it's err...A radical song dude! The sixth song is titled "College Kids." It's about how hard college is. Relates some of the woes and dreads of college. "Not for me, not for me, call it torture call it university" Catchy tune, fun lyrics give this song an A. Song number seven is called "Trademark." About how the artist's trademark is to mess up and then realize that he was wrong. "...It's my...my trademark move to turn my back on you. It's my, my trademark move to realize I should improve. And sometime soon after that, you'll see me, come crawling back." And the next song, number eight, is titled "Hoopes I did it Again" Talks about how great it is living in a small town but feeling restless and wanting to leave. But realizing that Canton, Ohio really isnt bad "It's not half bad, and never less than that" Number nine is "Overthinking" about a crush the artist had, but realized that the girl wasn't the one for him. Good song, good tune, good lyrics. Ten is called "Am I Understood?" It's a song to God about how he knows the artist completely. How he knows that before he says anything, he is understood. It's a great worship song. Track Eleven is titled "Getting into You." Another good worship song, pretty soft, but good. Track Twelve isnt really a song, just kindof an intro into the next song. It's basically just a conversation between a band member and a fan or two. Track thirteen is great, It's called "Gibberish" The message is to just stop talking pointlessly and start talking with meaning. It's mostly just a bunch of made up words that kinda flow together, catchy, you'll be trying to sing along in a heartbeat. (good luck!) Track fourteen is titled "From End to End" a good song the message is to stop trying to ignore God and to let him find you. Then you will be able to see the whole picture more clearly. Track sixteen is good, it's called "Jefferson, Aero Plane." It relates how the show goes on and the world still goes on. Relates the change that we undergo when we trust the Lord. Before we try to just blend in but towards the end, we wanna show everybody else our new selves. Just when you think it's over, a few minutes after the end of the last song the silence is broken by the "worst freestyle rapper...EVER!" Great humor is in this hidden track. Who woulda thought that Relient K could rap? Neither did I but this hidden track leaves you wanting more. |
